DEMETER ENERGY IS ADVANCING PLANS TO DEVELOP A FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND BIOMETHANOL PRODUCTION AND CARBONE CAPTURE FACILITY IN BRADENTON FLORIDA

Commercial-scale project designed to convert sustainable biomass into low-carbon biomethanol while capturing biogenic CO₂ for permanent sequestration

MANATEE COUNTY, FLORIDA – September 14, 2026 – Demeter Energy today announced continued advancement of development activities for a commercial-scale biomethanol production and carbon capture facility in Manatee County, Florida. The project is designed to convert sustainably sourced biomass into approximately 100,000 metric tons of low-carbon biomethanol annually while capturing and permanently sequestering approximately 200,000 metric tons of biogenic carbon dioxide (CO₂) each year.

As global industries accelerate efforts to achieve net-zero emissions, demand for low-carbon fuels and carbon management solutions continues to grow. Biomethanol is emerging as a critical fuel for decarbonizing maritime transportation and a key feedstock for sustainable aviation fuel and low-carbon chemical production. Demeter Energy’s project is being developed to serve these rapidly expanding markets while creating measurable environmental and economic value.

The facility is expected to strengthen Manatee County’s position as a strategic energy and logistics hub. By establishing a commercial market for biomass resources generated throughout Florida and the Southeastern United States, the project has the potential to stimulate investment across transportation, waste management, forestry, renewable fuels, and carbon management sectors. Its location at SeaPort Manatee is expected to support increased cargo activity, attract complementary industrial development, and create new economic opportunities for the region.
